POSITION INFORMATION
The Placer County District Attorney's Office is accepting applications for Assistant Chief District Attorney Investigator to fill one (1) vacancy in the Roseville office.

DEFINITION
To assist the Chief District Attorney Investigator in managing and directing the activities of the Investigations Division within the District Attorney’s Office; to coordinate activities within assigned programs, manage departmental employment background investigations, facilitate division training, and assist the Chief District Attorney Investigator with sensitive investigations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Training:
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in criminal investigation operations, two of which must be in a District Attorney’s Office, and two years of supervisory responsibility.
Training:
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in criminal justice, business or public administration, or a related field.
Required License or Certificate:
- May need to possess a valid driver’s license as required by the position. Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required.
- Possession of a current and valid Advanced certificate issued by the California Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (P.O.S.T.). Completion of the California P.O.S.T. Management Certificate within 12 months after appointment.
Special Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age by date of appointment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of current law enforcement procedures, community-focused methods of criminal and civil investigations, administration, and law enforcement management.
- Pertinent local, State, and Federal rules, regulations, and laws; court operations, and the operational rules and regulations of the District Attorney’s Office.
- Principles and practices of leadership, motivation, team building, and conflict resolution.
- Principles and practices used in planning, organizing, and directing criminal, civil, and family support law and criminal investigations.
- Techniques, methods, equipment, tools, and materials used in criminal investigations.
- Interview and interrogation techniques.
- Rules of evidence, arrest, and search-and-seizure laws.
- Statistical methods and report writing.
- Methods used to train criminal investigators.
- Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.
- Principles and practices of policy development and implementation.
- Principles and practices of organizational analysis and management.
- Budgeting procedures and techniques.
- Principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management.
Ability to:
- On a continuous basis, know and understand all aspects of the job; read, observe, identify, interpret, understand, analyze, apply, recall, and explain complex and technical policies and procedures, numerical information, analytical and statistical information, work papers, technical reports, special projects, and pertinent laws, rules, and regulations; analyze situations and determine proper course of action; work under time pressure and complete a high volume of tasks with frequent interruptions; manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and quickly switch between tasks; focus on a single task for long periods of time.
- On a continuous basis, sit a at desk or in meetings for long periods of time; Intermittently walk, stand, bend, squat, stoop, crouch, climb, crawl, kneel, or twist to reach equipment surrounding desk or when in the field; perform simple and power grasping and fine manipulation; speak, use a telephone, write, and use a keyboard to communicate and/or to enter or retrieve data; see, hear, and smell with sufficient acuity to perform essential job functions; wear utility belt, vest, and/or other law enforcement equipment weight approximately 25 pounds; lift very heavy weight.
- Organize and direct division programs and operations.

- Prepare, administer, and monitor a budget.
- Supervise, train, assign, review, and evaluate work of staff.
- Maintain physical, emotional, and mental condition to satisfactorily perform the functions of the position; meet and maintain required peace officer employment standards to safely and effectively perform assigned duties.
- Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals.
- Gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Training & Experience Rating (100%)
Applicants are required to complete a Supplemental Questionnaire,which serves as the examination for this recruitment.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Hire Requirements
Candidates must complete the following requirements before their start date if an offer is extended:
- DOJ Criminal Background Clearance: Successfully complete a fingerprint-based background check through the California Department of Justice.
- Medical Evaluation: Pass a pre-employment physical, which may include drug screening and/or a psychological evaluation.
- Oath of Office: Subscribe to the constitutional oath or affirmation as required for all public employees by the California Constitution.
- Employment Eligibility Verification: Provide original documents that establish both identity and the legal right to work in the United States, as required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Position-Specific Requirements
In addition to the above, some positions may require one or more of the following:
- Age Verification: Provide documentation verifying that you meet the minimum legal age requirements for this position.
- Background Check: Some positions require a background investigation. This may include a credit check, voice stress analysis, polygraph, and/or proof of bonding.
- Law Enforcement: Applicants for law enforcement functions must complete a conviction history questionnaire prior to or during the interview process.
- Medi-Cal Access/Licensing: Applicants with access to Medi-Cal billing software or who are licensed providers must clear the Federal Exclusion List, credentialing, and social security verification.
Failure to clear all requirements may result in an employment offer being withdrawn.
