Job Description

Full-time position available with the KC Water Stormwater Preventative Maintenance Division, Creeks and Levees Section located at 1800 Prospect Ave.
Salary Range: $16.05-$24.31/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Thursday, 6:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Responsibilities

Assists in the process of preventative maintenance of Kansas City Water utility infrastructure. Responsible for the maintenance of grass and roads, fence repairs, and tree removal. Operates trucks, tractors, and other heavy-duty specialized automotive construction equipment used in the maintenance of Stormwater channels and levees, and other related stormwater structures. Hauls debris to landfill to properly dispose of materials. Performs maintenance and upkeep of levee roads. Establishes new access roads for emergency repairs. Participates in snow plowing and snow removal operations. Participates in emergency flood response duties which may include sand bagging and log-gaps in levees, as well as any other activities that aid in the prevention of flood wall and levee breaches. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

REQUIRES 4 years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation of heavy and complex construction and maintenance equipment, including 1 year at the level of Equipment Operator. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. May be required to possess a valid Missouri Class A, B, or C CDL prior to the end of the employee's probationary period as determined by the department. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
