Salary Range: $5,402 - $6,904/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Non-exempt classification.

Essential Job Functions: Under the general supervision of the Lead Locksmith, the incumbent will re-key locks, install and maintain locking mechanisms, cut keys, install and maintain panic and exit devices, and perform general locksmith duties as assigned. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining necessary blueprints and related records; will interface effectively with University staff and personnel; and work closely with campus departments, including Planning and construction and Facilities Services.

Required Qualifications and Experience: The incumbent must have progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a locksmith's apprenticeship program. The incumbent must possess thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in locksmith trade, including standalone access control units (preferably the Schlage SMS system); of all types of locks, fastening devices and related hardware; electrical locking and security systems and devices; and applicable state codes to the locksmith trade including those related to fire exits, door hardware and fastening devices. The incumbent must possess good communication and interpersonal skills. The incumbent must have the ability to pin standard, Everest and primus cylinders to existing master key systems; duplicate and sequence keys in a master key system; prepare standard reports using Excel, Word, and Outlook; maintain computerized inventory and master locking system records; must read and write at a level appropriate to the position; perform basic mathematic calculations; work independently and in a fast paced environment with short deadlines; and demonstrate interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position. The incumbent will be required to complete a skill assessment during the interview.

Desired Qualifications: License or certification as a Locksmith. Three years of field experience in the commercial/industrial locksmith field; and ability to read, interpret and work from shop blueprints, plans, drawings and specifications.
