Overview

Position Information
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before 06/30/2020, with the possibility of reappointment and/or permanency. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

Under general supervision, this position provides daily contact with financial aid and scholarships applicants and parents regarding financial aid/scholarship eligibility requirements, satisfactory academic progress, personal budgeting techniques, and resolution of family financial circumstances which could preclude attendance at the university. Reviews system-generated need analyses/awards to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Assesses student's current and potential financial and academic circumstances and makes appropriate recommendations. When appropriate, utilizes professional judgment to apply existing guidelines and procedures to students with unusual circumstances and devises solutions to problems for which precedents do not exist. Assists various program coordinators with responsibilities as needed (e.g., NSLDS, File Review, QC Report, Scholarships, Satisfactory Academic Progress).

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,796 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,796 - $5,369 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience:
Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate level job-related education may be substituted for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

Experience working in the financial aid office of a university or college.
Student or customer service experience.
