Position: Electrical Automation Technician
Location: Libertyville, IL
Salary: $34.79 - $38.26
Job Summary: Becoming an Electrical Automation Technician would allow you to be involved with electrical control systems and equipment within local government, ranging from the design and layout of control cabinets to SCADA equipment. Your day will consist of designing, building, installing and repairing electrical control systems and equipment such as controls for radio communication and SCADA equipment, design and upgrade sites with processors and variable frequency drives, troubleshoot and correct problems relating to all electrical equipment, plan or modify and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on existing or new electrical systems. This position works Monday through Friday from 7:00am – 3:30pm and must be available for occasional overtime duty, weekend duty and 24-hour call on a rotating basis.
In order to be successful in this role you should have an associate’s degree or the equivalent of two years of college or vocational school education in electrical engineering and five years of experience in working with controls that include cabinet design, fabrication and troubleshooting related to the water and wastewater field. Individuals should have a working knowledge of the standard practices, tools and terminology of the electrical trade and the elementary electrical theory and use of testing equipment. Applicants should have completed 8,000 hours of work for designation as a journeyman electrician and a valid drivers license to operator a County provided vehicle.
