They will also ensure that the plans preparation follows the appropriate design criteria, procedures, and guidelines.Job Duties & ExpectationsDesign ITS/Traffic projects using AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation OpenRoads and SS10.Review, interpret, comment, and provide technical guidance on production plans for ITS/Traffic designs.Complete assignments for all facets of the plans production process with general direction given by the Engineer of Record (EOR). Rely on extensive experience and judgment to develop production plans that accomplish project goals and objectives.Perform a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.Apply general ITS/Traffic engineering and planning principles to solve specific ITS/Traffic related items.Responsible for compliance with FDOT specifications and company requirements ensuring all work activities are completed within schedule.May participate in marketing efforts, proposal design, preparing bid documents with fee estimates and other marketing efforts as assigned by the EOR.Scope of the Job Decision-Making: Consistently exercises good judgement, receives and provides instructions on specific projects, assignments, objectives, complex features, and possible solutions. Work is reviewed for application of sound professional judgement and guidance is provided by EOR.Team Involvement: Expected to oversee design aspects for multiple projects. Leads, directs, coordinate, and produce the work of all CADD related items with others who assist in specific projects or assignments. Provides leadership and expertise as well as trains other technicians. Expected to provide consultation on projects and is expected to be a contributor on all related CADD. Interfaces with other technical professionals and technical managers. Interfaces with external professional which include federal, state, county, or city ITS and Tolling staff, sub consultants, and clients to discuss project assignments and report on project progress.Travel: Performs tasks throughout the state of Florida with light to moderate travel is anticipated for field reviews.Education and Experience May require a drafting degree or 5+ years of experience in designing complex, major and minor highway projects. Has extensive experience with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the ITS/Traffic operations field.Required ExperienceKnowledge of ITS/Traffic engineering design, terminology and construction techniques.Knowledge of ITS/Traffic design utilizing FDOT CADD standards and electronic delivery.Overall knowledge of project deliverables & management methodologies (Must have knowledge of latest FDOT plans production and delivery standards including OpenRoads / EQ report deliverables.)Skilled in the use of CADD for ITS/Traffic design plans preparation and performing calculations.Ability to communicate with other team members working on the same projects.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, particularly related to technical informationAbility to organize projects and tasks while staying on schedule and meeting required deadlines.Other Skills Excellent technical writing, analytical and excellent communication skills, including ability to present articulate technical concepts verbally. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook is required.
