Description

Airport Specialist

To perform a full range of landside and airside maintenance duties; performs preventive maintenance and repair of a wide variety of machinery and equipment, ensuring efficient, safe, and productive operations

The employee will have the responsibility of:

• Overseeing airside and landside grounds by ensuring all areas are mowed, edged, and landscaped; ensures all irrigation and watering systems for the grounds are operable and maintained

• Ensuring herbicide and pesticide applications are properly and safely dispensed according to Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Policy

• Performing a full range of indoor/outdoor semi-skilled construction and maintenance projects as needed

• Performing airfield inspections in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Defense (DOD) regulations

• Assisting in inventory control and making purchases needed to operate facility

• Using Airport Operations, VHF, and administrative radio systems in accordance with Federal Communication Commission (FCC) procedures

• Overseeing security checks of perimeter, airfield and terminal fencing and gates

The work environment will require the employee to:

• Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals

• Work near aircraft with high noise levels

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• A high school diploma or equivalent

• Two (2) years of Electrical/HVAC experience, one (1) year of mechanical/welding experience, one (1) year of building maintenance experience, six (6) months of grounds maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education or certification and experience for each area

Special Requirements:

• Must have a valid Texas driver's license by date-of-hire

• Must obtain an Herbicide Applicator's License within one (1) year of notification.

• May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.

• Will be required to perform on-call responsibilities.

• Must pass a criminal history, fingerprint-based, record check and background check. Must pass a fingerprint-based background check by date-of-hire.
