In this role, you will join the Legal team and support the company's U.S. insurance operations, primarily in the mortgage insurance space. This role will focus on insurance regulatory matters, reinsurance, and insurance-related transactions, with significant interaction across the finance, risk, sales and compliance teams. A successful candidate will bring deep insurance regulatory experience, strong transactional skills, and a practical, business-oriented approach to advising a regulated financial services organization.LOCATIONEnact Headquarters, Raleigh, NC (Hybrid Schedule). Remote candidates with the appropriate experience may be considered, with regular travel to Raleigh required.YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESProvide legal advice on Enact's U.S. insurance regulatory matters affecting Enact's domestic operations, primarily mortgage insurance and reinsurance.Interact directly with insurance regulators on a wide range of matters, including licensing, examinations, approvals, filings, and ongoing regulatory oversight.Draft, review, and negotiate reinsurance agreements and related risk?transfer arrangements, including insurance-linked notes.Negotiate and advise on master service agreements with lender partners and other commercial arrangements.Partner with internal business teams to develop creative, compliant solutions that advance strategic and commercial objectives.Manage and coordinate outside counsel as needed.Monitor regulatory and legislative developments and advise the business on emerging legal and regulatory risks.Take a leadership role in the U.S. Mortgage Insurers House Counsel Committee.YOUR QUALIFICATIONSJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.Minimum of 10 years of U.S. insurance regulatory and transactional experience.Significant experience with complex insurance and reinsurance structures and transactions.Significant experience drafting, evaluating, and negotiating insurance and reinsurance agreements.Significant experience with intercompany agreements, dividend and distribution requests, and investments in subsidiaries and affiliates.Experience developing and advising on the filing of insurance policies and rates.Experience interacting directly with insurance regulators on a wide variety of matters, including licensing, regulatory filings and examinations.Broad experience related to insurance laws, regulations and licensing requirements.Familiarity with insurance holding company acts and related filings, such as holding company transactions, Form A/D filings, dividend requests, and reinsurance regulatory approvals.Working knowledge of statutory insurance accounting principles (SAP).Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to work effectively across multiple business units.Client focused mindset with the ability to deliver practical, compliant solutions.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with state departments of insurance, ideally the North Carolina Department of Insurance.Financial or accounting expertise, or experience working closely with finance teams.Familiarity with the U.S. housing finance system.Familiarity with RESPA and related state laws.COMPANYEnact Holdings, Inc.
