Correctional Officer

Summary

Pennington County is seeking a dedicated Correctional Officer to help maintain safety, security, and order within our correctional facility in Rapid City, South Dakota. Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security within the correctional facility
• Supervise inmates and enforce facility rules and regulations
• Conduct head counts, inspections, and searches for contraband
• Monitor inmate movement, housing units, and recreational areas
• Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical situations
• Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
• Escort inmates to hearings, medical visits, and programs
• Communicate effectively with staff, inmates, and visitors
• Support rehabilitation and reentry programs as directed
• Follow established policies, procedures, and legal standards
