Salary:

Level I: up to $32.69 / hourly based on education and experience

Level II: up to $34.33 / hourly, based on education and experience

Level III: up to $37.02 / hourly, based on education and experience

Full Time /Part Time: Part Time

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday

Position Description:

SoonerStartis Oklahoma’s early intervention program designed to meet the needs of families with infants and toddlers (ages birth to 3 years old) with developmental delays and/or disabilities in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The program builds upon and provides supports and resources to assist family members to enhance infants or toddler’s learning and development through everyday learning opportunities.

The Physical Therapists in theSoonerStartprogram is primarily responsible to examine and treat children with physical impairments and/or difficultiesthrough the use ofphysical modalities. The goal is to assist the caregiver and child with physical challenges to improve mobility and function to increase independent movement and other skills necessary for functioning in daily routines.

This position is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services in the areas ofPhysicalTherapy. Services are provided in the child’s natural environment settings in which children typically spend time, for example, home or childcare. Services include screenings, evaluations, intervention, and parent education.

Position Responsibilities /Essential Functions

The functions within thisjob familywill vary by level; responsibility but may include, but are notlimited to, the following:

• Provides early intervention services in the child and family’s natural environment (home, childcare, park etc.)
  
• Makes recommendations concerning standardized treatments/intervention based on developmental indications.
  
• Completes child assessments concerning developmental, educational, and social skills/abilities.
  
• Participatesin familyinterview.
  
• Conductsintakes, including client interviews, and conducts assessments to make appropriate recommendations for services.
  
• Participates in the development and implementation of the Individualized Family Service Plan according to state and federal guidelines.
  
• Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team to monitor the effectiveness of child health and development services.
  
• Develops a treatment plan to address areas of need including routine-based activities, neuro-motor and sensory-motor function/activities and child/family coaching and education sessions.
  
• Participates in the assessment, design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices.
  
• Evaluates child’s response to treatment/intervention and makes recommendations on changes in treatment as required.
  
• Maintains confidential records of services including progress notes and evaluation reports in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  
• May provide limited supervision and training of interns.
  
• Participates as a supervisor toPhysicalTherapy Interns during their fieldwork experience.
  
• Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.
  
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Level I: This is the basic level where incumbents perform beginning level professional work as aphysicaltherapist and develop their technical skills in screening, evaluation, assessment, program planning, parent education and intervention while assisting in or performing various treatments.

Requirements at this level consist of a master’s degree in physical therapyand a current Oklahoma license asaPhysical Therapistissued by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision.Preferred candidates hold a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Level I ONLY: A letter of eligibility issued by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision will be accepted as long as the letter of eligibility remains valid. However, a valid permanent license asaPhysicalTherapist must be obtained prior to the expiration of the probationary period.

Level II: PhysicalTherapist II is the career level where incumbents perform all duties ofaphysicaltherapist at the full performance level. The incumbent will assume a lead role in evaluation, assessment, program planning and intervention.

Requirements at this level consist of a master’s degree in physical therapyand a current Oklahoma license asaPhysical Therapistissued by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervisionplus one year of professional experience as a licensed Physical Therapist.Preferred candidates hold a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Level III: PhysicalTherapistIII is the specialist level, where incumbents areassignedresponsibilities involving advanced level duties in occupational therapy. Incumbents at this level may assume a lead role in evaluation, assessment, program planning, intervention, and supervisephysicaltherapy students during fieldwork experience. May provide in-service training in areas of recognized expertise at the local, regional, and state level.

Requirements at this level consist of amaster’s degree in physical therapyand a current Oklahoma license asaPhysical Therapistissued by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervisionplustwoyearsof professional experience as a licensed Physical Therapist.Preferred candidates hold a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Ability is required to use therapeutic equipment and materials; to evaluate various skills and abilities; to establish effective working relationships with others; and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Level II: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level includeknowledgeof the principles, practices and ethics of professional Physical therapy; of therapeutic techniques and their application; and of the materials used in Physical therapy programs. Ability is required to use therapeutic equipment and materials; to evaluate various skills and abilities; to establish effective working relationships with others; and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Ability to mentor Physical Therapy interns during their field work experience.

Level III: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level includeknowledgeof the principles, practices and ethics of professional Physical therapy; of therapeutic techniques and their application; and of the materials used in Physical therapy programs. Ability is required to use therapeutic equipment and materials; to evaluate various skills and abilities; to establish effective working relationships with others; and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Ability to mentor Physical Therapy interns during their field work experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is typically performed in the child’s natural environment (home or childcare setting) or in an office environment with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noiselevel. Telework and the provision of services remotely may also be required. While performing the duties of the job,employee isrequired to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms and maylift upto 35 pounds.

Travel Requirements

Applicants must be willing to perform all job-related travel associated with any of these positions.Occasionalin-state overnight and weekend travel may be required.
