ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor position. This position plans, supervises, directs, trains, and reviews the work of skilled, semi-skilled, and support staff performing journey-level electrical and electronic installation, maintenance, and repair of series wired airfield lighting and related systems, as well as navigational aids. This includes installing infrastructure to support said systems and maintenance and repair of support systems such as emergency generators and automatic transfer switches, uninterrupted power supplies, fire alarm systems, and medium voltage switch gear. This role ensures Part 139 compliance by following all FAA Advisory Circular requirements, as well as NEC, NFPA, and OSHA requirements. Further, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to successfully operate equipment in the Movement Area while effectively communicating with the FAA tower and/or pilots during times when the towers are closed at the County's General Aviation Airports.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility List to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Employee Services.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND nine (9) years of journey-level experience in the electrical trade, including a minimum of one (1) year lead or supervisory experience. Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician may be substituted for four (4) years of the required experience. Experience with electronic controls required.

Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back outside of normal working hours.
Licensing and Certification: Possession of a valid Class C Nevada driver's license at time of appointment. Electrician Journeyman licensure. Specified positions may require certification for the State of Nevada "F" Fire Alarm/Protection System installation and maintenance OR Master Electrician licensure.
Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.
Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.
Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted and maintain a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID's upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID's include a Passport, Driver's License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.
Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program: Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is contingent upon a ten year employment and five year residency history record check and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mobility to work in a typical shop or related maintenance setting, including operating typical trade equipment, hand and power tools and standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle to various work sites; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Plans, schedules, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of skilled and semi-skilled staff performing electrical installation, maintenance and repair work.
- Recommends selection of staff; trains staff in work procedures; administers discipline as required.
- Assists in developing and implementing goals, objectives, procedures and work standards for the unit; provides input into the unit's budget.
- Participates in the design, layout and installation of office, public facility, shop, plant and other remodeling, repair or modification projects affecting County buildings and facilities, including airport and plants and street lighting; takes measurements; prepares working drawings and sketches; assists in preparing project specifications.
- Troubleshoots problems and provides technical assistance to staff in solving maintenance and repair problems.
- Requisitions materials, parts, tools and equipment needed for work assignments; orders and picks up materials and supplies from outside vendors as appropriate; prepares cost estimates for jobs.
- Prepares, issues, prioritizes and tracks electrical and electronic work orders; maintains accurate records of work performed. Inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure that work complies with applicable codes and specifications.
- Reads diagrams, blueprints, specifications and manuals for installation and repair projects.
- Provides for the maintenance and servicing of electrical test and repair equipment and hand and power tools; maintains an inventory of frequently used supplies and parts.
- Ensures that staff follows safety procedures and uses appropriate safety equipment.
- Prepares a variety of correspondence, specifications, procedures and periodic and special reports of work performed.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work.
- Drives a County or personal vehicle to inspect work sites and attend meetings.
