The officer will be required to travel to DAI facilities across the state of Missouri to assist with staffing needs as approved by the respective Deputy Division Director. The position is eligible for retention/longevity pay, shift differential, and overtime pay in accordance with departmental policy D2‑8.4 and the Office of Administration's Division of Personnel Differential Pay Guidelines.While on assignment, Mobile Custody Team Officers will be provided a state vehicle for transportation to and from the assisted facility, lodging while travelling, and will be reimbursed for meals that are not provided by the institution or hotel. Officers will be required to car‑pool in the state vehicle and may be required to reside with a roommate while travelling.Candidates will be expected to maintain security in buildings, towers, and other posts of an adult correctional facility; intervene during emergencies or altercations and gain physical control of offenders. They will also supervise the movement of offenders inside and outside the correctional facility, conduct periodic counts of offenders, search offenders and their living quarters for contraband, escort/transport offenders to predetermined locations, supervise offenders in housing units, during work activities, recreational and religious activities, supervise visits with offenders, and search visitors, offenders, buildings, and grounds for contraband.The candidate will be expected to conduct inspections for health and safety hazards; prepare and submit reports on offender violations of divisional or correctional facility rules, unusual offender behaviors, observed mechanical deficiencies, security breaches or failures. The candidate will also discuss minor adjustment problems with offenders, refer serious problems to proper correctional facility staff, and promote rehabilitation by encouraging worthwhile activities.This position will perform other related work as assigned.Must be 18 years of age or older.Special RequirementsAbility to pass a background investigation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.Ability to complete Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training during Basic Training administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.By Assignment, a Position May RequireAbility to complete and maintain firearms certification training administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license.Compensation and IncentivesA $2.00 per hour shift differential if assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00 pm (noon) and 5:00 am at a 24/7 congregate care facility (institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).A $0.75 per hour medium security or $1.50 maximum security differential if working full‑time at a qualifying facility.A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if assigned a regular post within a restrictive housing/segregation unit at any facility.The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!The Missouri Department of Corrections is proud to have a tradition of promotion from within for employees looking for and seeking distinctive career paths.
