About the role:
You will perform planning, executing, coordinating, and reviewing complex fire protection design, assessment, analysis, field-support, and program support work. You will deliver complex assigned scopes, exercise technical judgement, lead small groups or defined technical work packages, review the work of less-experienced personnel, and resolve most technical issues within assigned areas of responsibility.
You will report to the Director, Fire Protection and be located at either our Rock Hill, SC or Cranberry, PA facility. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, blending remote flexibility with regular on-site collaboration at either our Rock Hill, SC or Cranberry, PA offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently plan and execute complex fire protection technical assignments within one or more primary areas of depth, including detection/alarm/emergency signaling, suppression/special hazards, firewater, codes/standards/regulations, fire hazard assessment, fire safe shutdown, fire protection assessment, and fire protection program support.
- Lead small groups, defined scopes, or multi-deliverable technical work packages within larger projects, proposals, studies, modification packages, assessments, program activities, field-support efforts, or client-support assignments.
- Develop, coordinate, and review technical deliverables such as calculations, design inputs, layouts, specifications, design-basis documents, system narratives, cause-and-effect documentation, field-review records, technical evaluations, assessments, reports, work plans, and technical correspondence.
- Resolve routine and complex technical issues within assigned scopes and identify matters requiring escalation to a Lead Fire Protection Specialist, licensed professional, discipline manager, client authority, AHJ, regulatory-support function, or other designated authority.
- Lead assigned technical interfaces with clients, vendors, internal stakeholders, field personnel, and other disciplines, including presenting technical issues, explaining assumptions, documenting decisions, and supporting resolution of comments.
- Maintain technical currency through project work, industry standards, technical literature, operating experience, professional development, and engagement with internal and external technical communities.
- Minimum 10 years of related professional experience in fire protection, engineering technology, design or consulting services
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical education
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, Limited License, C.E.T., NICET, CFPS, or other relevant professional registration, certification, or designation
- Review the work of others, lead defined scopes or small groups, and exercise mature technical judgement within the fire protection practice area
