Summary
Overview KFS, LLC is seeking a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Specialist who will support environmental compliance and planning efforts. The NEPA Specialist will support project managers and senior environmental professionals in developing Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, and other environmental planning and compliance documents. This person will support an environmental program serving numerous Department of Defense services with environmental compliance and NEPA projects. Job duties include, but are not limited to:Support environmental reviews, project scope and alternative development, field investigations, planning, cost estimating, problem and conflict resolution, and project scheduling.Conduct environmental research, data collection, and analysis in support of NEPA and other environmental compliance requirements.Support environmental troubleshooting and consultations by providing technical information and project support to clients and interdisciplinary teams.Prepare and assist with technical reviews of professional studies, reports, environmental analyses, and NEPA documents.Collaborate with project managers, environmental specialists, engineers and architects, legal staff, contract specialists, contractor personnel, and agency representatives to support the resolution of environmental compliance issues.Prepare technical reviews and review comments for Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, Records of Environmental Consideration, and supporting environmental studies and reports.Assist with the preparation of environmental scopes of work and responses to requests for proposals for environmental projects.Assess potential project impacts, best management practices, mitigation measures, and the studies, consultations, coordination, permitting requirements, costs, and timelines necessary for project implementation.Prepare descriptions of proposed actions and alternatives, affected-environment sections, environmental consequences analyses, cumulative-effects analyses, and mitigation measures.Support compliance with NEPA and other applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, executive orders, and Department of Defense policies.Prepare NEPA documents, technical memoranda, meeting materials, and correspondence with regulatory and resource agencies.Support agency coordination, public involvement, stakeholder engagement, and consultation activities associated with NEPA compliance.Organize and maintain project files, technical references, regulatory documentation, comments, commitments, and administrative records.Regular verbal and written updates regarding project status will be a routine aspect of coordinating all assigned tasks.Travel, including potential overnight travel, will be required for up to four weeks per year.Location: Huntsville, ALPhysical Requirements: Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner.
