THE POSITION

Security Officer 1 positions at Clarks Summit State Hospital offer an important opportunity to help protect people, property and daily operations. This role allows you to support the safety of patients, staff and visitors through active patrol and quick response. You will join a dependable team that works together to maintain order and prevent harm. Step into a position where your efforts help create a secure and stable environment.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on protecting life and property while enforcing rules and supporting safety throughout the hospital grounds. As a Security Officer 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Safety Patrols: Perform walking and mobile rounds to monitor conditions across the facility
  • Security Monitoring: Review camera feeds and security systems to identify risks or violations
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies and work to stabilize situations on hospital grounds
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate complaints, rule violations and safety concerns
  • Building Checks: Inspect buildings to ensure doors, windows and areas are secure
  • Missing Patient Searches: Conduct searches for missing or AWOL patients according to policy

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Sunday - Saturday.
    • Rotating holidays and weekends. Every second weekend off
  • Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Travel and overtime: As needed.
  • Free parking.
  • The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
