Narcotics Deputy (INTERNAL TRANSFER REQUEST)

Position title: Deputy

Division: Narcotics

Shift: 8-hour variable shifts

Job Duties:

Investigate and apprehend individuals suspected of narcotics related crimes such as drug trafficking and drug possession.

Gather and analyze information, search for and gather physical or documentary evidence or clues; interview witnesses, interrogate suspects; obtain signed statements and affidavits; prepare investigative reports and case records.

Present findings in clear, logical, impartial and properly documented reports.

Appear as a witness in criminal and administrative court proceedings; draft and execute legal documents for use in criminal and administrative investigations, subpoenas for evidence, search warrants, arrest warrants and affidavits.

Participate in in-service training; study professional material relating to new investigative procedures and techniques; study legal materials relating to court rulings and state and federal law; attend training sessions to acquire new skills.

Operate and monitor electronic surveillance equipment; operate computers and computer software.

Conduct long term physical and electronic surveillance of suspects.

Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

1 year of work experience in Criminal Operations (does not include Communications or CIU).

No disciplinary suspensions within the last 6 months; all other disciplinary or corrective actions will be reviewed by the selection committee.

Basic Law Enforcement P.O.S.T. Certified

Firearms qualified

Must currently be in an armed law enforcement position

Must be willing to participate in bi-weekly Range training which consists of physically active Close Quarter Battle and firearms training

Must be willing to participate in monthly division defensive tactics training

Must adhere to quarterly physical standards testing
